What is a ';backdoor trojan'; and a ';fake alert';?

Every once in a while when I use my Yahoo tool bar free Norton spyware scan, it always finds these 2 things.

When I use full scan it never finds the ''Fake alert''. If I use ''quick scan'', then it will find the ''fake alert''

I find it funny that the full scan does not find them both???

Well,.. that would be another question. I just want to know what these 2 things are??

The fake alert is a file called TMP8.TMP

Anyone one knows about this and the backdoor trojan?

To be fully protected these days you need a really good anti-virus as well as an anti-spyware program on your computer. Just one of each of good quality software will do. I recommend 1) Kaspersky anti -virus and 2) Counterspy anti-spyware. They will catch everything and won't slow your computer down. Free stuff just doesn't cut it.

''back door trojan''= a program used to open up your system. This can allow another person to literally take over your computer.

''fake alert'' = Often a product of adware or spyware. The ''alert'' usually tries to entice you to click on a lik to ''upgrade'' some portion of your software.

No single anti-adware/spyware/virus program will find and remove everything! Use more than one. I use three! Even then some things (usually new) can slip by for a while.
They are virus' that you open and leave the virus hidden in your computer to do the damage. Some virus' will wipe your computer right away, some will leave funny(not really so funny) messages, some will have time delays and will say, go off on July 4th, and wipe stuff off your computer but the backdoor trojan work secretely behind the scenes.
